Name: Rajat
True Name: Known by only two
Age: 224
Race: Djinni: 1/2 Djinn, 1/2 Ifriti, with a unique amount of the potent blood belonging to the now extinct Marid tribe, or so they suspect.
Familial Relation: Is a fraternal twin with Nazanin.
Appearance: Dark eyebrows frame yellow, golden eyes which bear a striking contrast with his pearly white hair flowing freely past his shoulders. His skin is a flawless dark tan adorned with black, angular tattoos. These tattoos run along the left side of his body, beginning at the finger tips of his left hand. They continue up his arm, spreading at his shoulder to encompass half the width of his back, a third of his front, and down to his waist. The ceremonial tattoos climb up his neck, covering his left ear and ending at the hair line. Intertwined with the black tattoos are the golden swirly tattoos that can only be seen when he uses his Djinn powers. Metal irons adorn his pointed ears, and dark leather straps tie his hair in different arrangements, depending on his twin's whim. On the right side of Rajat's body are dim patterns of fresh scars from the use of his Marid blood magic.
His appearance is mostly inherited from the ifriti side of the family. The only difference is his eyes; they are the golden color of the true Djinn tribe.
Clothing: His clothes are a dark brown--almost black color thinly lined with white silk that matches the color of his hair. The collar ends in a deep V, showcasing his hairless tattooed chest. His muscled but elegant body is only enhanced by the soft, malleable clothing.
Personality: Rajat is a Djinni who is undecided in his dappling in dark magic, as evidence by his tattoos, which his father gave him when Rajat was young. He is a man who only cares for his friends and family--but most specifically his twin sister, Nazanin. Around humans, Rajat is a man who is silent but for his mocking or sarcastic remarks. Rajat cares little for the short-lived races, as they are only alive for a mere second of his lifetime. This sometimes results in vicious and impatient outbursts against humans. However, Nazanin usually stops him from permanently harming them.
Rajat is comfortable, even gregarious, around his family and friends, mostly stoic/impatient toward human beings, and is his true self only to his sister. However, his past and uncertain future weigh heavily on his mind, and the evil magic he enjoys always brings him back to a dark and fierce disposition. This disposition incites fear in most any being, and that breaks only in response to his sister's quirky ways.
Rajat is also a man of action who gets what he wants when he wants it. He can enjoy a lazy time with his sister, but in general he much prefers action to inaction.
History: Rajat and Nazanin were born to a Djinn mother and an Ifriti father, both who loved their children very much. Their Ifriti father gave up his powerful dark ways to be with the love of his life, a pure and powerful Djinn. However, when Rajat and Nazanin were only 120, a fairly young age for Djinni, their mother was killed by a faction of the Ifriti who hated that their mother took one of their most powerful dark Ifriti away from them. Blaming his own tribe, the Djinn tribe who was to protect his love, and himself for failing her, Rajat and Nazanin's father immersed himself in evil magics, the likes of which had been forbidden even to the Ifriti for their dangerous nature, bringing Rajat and Nazanin with him. Rajat was slightly more immersed in the magics with his father than Nazanin, but both were exposed to the evil. While trying to bring back his wife, the father was consumed by his own magic when Rajat and Nazanin were 180. They did not repeat their father's mistake, but neither did they swear off the magic he taught them, as it was a very powerful and addicting magic.
Not too long ago, Rajat and Nazanin were captured by a group of power-hungry humans who wished to bind the twins. The humans tried and unexpectedly failed, but not without causing Rajat and Nazanin great harm. The scarring on the twins' bodies are a result of the failed attempt. The twins were rescued from death by both the Djinn and the Ifriti sides of their family. The twins discovered their scars and recognized them as the Marid markings from legend. However, they are suspicious of this outlandish conclusion because the Marid have been extinct for millenia.
The Marid were known as the most wise and powerful of the Djinni, but because of their power, and their mortal weakness as a result of their power, they became extinct. The Marid faded into legend and then into myth as time passed.
Realizing the implications of the discovery, if it were to be found true--their inability to be bound to any being, and other such unknown powers or weaknesses--the twins set out to recover any information about the Marid Djinn.
Powers: By his Ifriti blood, Rajat may shapeshift in the blink of an eye into most anything he wishes. Both sides of his ancestors had the power of flight, and he has inherited an affinity for flight (through manipulating air) as well. The Djinn blood gave him immense strength, beyond even the strongest of the Ifriti. The Djinn tribe has the ability to grant wishes, as does Rajat, though because of his Ifriti half, it is more difficult for him to do so; it drains his strength for a good two days after. His Ifriti blood gives him a unique connection with fire; it fuels his own powers. Gold enhances his power as well, thanks to the Djinn blood.
His most mysterious power is the fact that he cannot be bound. A binding takes place after a long and arduous ceremony. The ceremony is not well known and is very complicated. When bound, a Djinni must obey his master willingly or unwillingly. Any Djinni will fight the binding until he is unbound. Depending on the master's strength, the binding may last for weeks or a lifetime. This power must come from his Marid blood, though he is unsure. To find out more of the Marid, and to see if it is possible to have Marid powers, Nazanin and Rajat search for any and all information pertaining to the Marid tribe.
Weaknesses: Though the hybrid of his blood gives him more power, it also gives him more weaknesses. The materials agate and copper are weaknesses given to him by the Djinn blood, and iron and ruby are weaknesses given by his Ifriti blood. These materials deflect his power and give him crippling pain when he is in their presence. Prayer may also ward of his dark powers, but it does not affect his other powers.
His Marid blood enhances his weakness to copper and iron, and also makes him weak around jade, though it does little to deflect any power he uses. He has not discovered this yet, but he will soon enough. When he uses his Marid power(s), strange patterns are burned/etched into his skin. It is extremely painful--crippling--and can negatively affect him for weeks at a time, depending on the amount of power used.
