Name: Ciel (pronounced "see-elle")
Age: 26
Race: Half Skeirn*, Half Naiad*
*Skeirn are like long, serpentine dragons with silky soft hair, soft scales, and hard jewels lined along their back.
*Naiads are magical humanoid beings that live underwater. Ciel's Naiad family live in subterranean springs that pocket the mountain ranges.
Height: 5'4''
Appearance: Skeirn are born with two forms: one huge and serpentine form, one humanoid form. Unfortunately, Ciel was born without the ability to shift, for various reasons (see History). Her humanoid form is too pale for a human. Light pink scales adorn her pale skin in patches; both her Naiad and Skeirn blood give her those scales. Her Skeirn blood gives her thin iridescent, geometrical lines all over her body. Her hair is a silky white color that would have been her Skeirn form's hide. Her eyes are weird. They are a cold white color with hints of lavender and deep ocean blue.
She most often wears a black-rose colored cloak that has a hood to hide her appearance if she wishes. She also carries a strawberry colored scarf to wrap around her face to further disguise herself if needed. Under her cloak she wears a soft lavender travel-dress. In it she can hide a switchblade in a holster on her thigh, as well as other travel-essentials. She carries a folded-up sack to carry things when she is on the run. She also carries a well-balanced wooden bo staff that hides as a walking stick. Her bo staff is adorned with swirls of magical script in both the Skeirn and Naiad tongues.
Physically, she is weak but nimble. She is thin but soft since her training did not include much physical training. Her magical powers are strong and unusual, but physically she is hopelessly weak and ill.
History: Her mother is the Naiad queen, her father a royal knight of the Skeirn. At the time of her birth, everyone knew she was different. Her powers, even as a babe, were tremendous and difficult to control. Each time she used her powers, a bit of her life-force was taken from her. As a result, she grew up ill and weak. Ciel cannot shift to a Skeirn form, something unheard of among the Skeirn-Naiad children. It is theorized that because of her weak physical form and life force, the ability to shift was taken from her at too young an age.
Ciel was born as the only hope of her races. They need her in their war with the shadow-races. Their war is an odd one, at once quiet and devastating. Those three races (Skeirn, Naiad, and Scathé) seek to remain undiscovered by other races, but their blood feud runs deep. The secretive war escalated when Ciel was only nine years of age, so with her unusual and confusing powers, she was selected as their greatest hope against the Scathé threat. Seventeen years later, she had killed thousands of Scathé souls. It killed her to watch each soul burn horrifically at her hand, so she stopped. By running away. It is also important to note that she cherishes her lost half-sister who is half Naiad, half Scathé and now lives with the Scathé people.
Personality: Ciel is quiet and old beyond her years. She knows she does not have long to live, and approaches life with that aspect always in mind. She finds that by focusing on others around her, she is distracted from her physical pain. By helping others, she finds momentary peace. Ciel is depressed, worried, a bit desperate, but also kind and empathetic, at her own expense. She holds power and authority on her shoulders. Hers is a quiet confidence. She is also quite perceptive of others and of situations. She will only fight for others, not herself. It is a sub-conscious death wish. She is not quick to anger, but when she does anger, it is explosive and easy to exploit. Every decision she makes comes down to energy level: how much is she willing to expend to get the task done?
Powers and Weaknesses: It is difficult to describe Ciel's powers. She possesses a will to manipulate the very fabric of existence. It resonates in her soul and blood first. Before she releases her power, it feels as if her very blood is boiling. It is extremely painful and taxing. Ciel can only do one thing at a time (for example, she cannot manipulate both fire and water at the same time). She also does not have a mastery of her powers. Oftentimes it is uncontrollable in small doses, and in large doses it is devastating. She does not know it yet, but silver and iron can bind her powers and can be extremely painful if they are present when she attempts to use her powers.
When she does use her powers, it oftentimes leaves her too weak to move or think for long periods of time, depending on the severity of the usage of her powers. She cannot use her powers for long periods of time, so even if she unleashes a powerful attack, it may or may not kill whomever is the target. It would then leave her vulnerable for a period of time afterward. How much/how long Ciel is able to use her powers depends on her physical energy level. Once that energy level is depleted, she cannot move.
With that said, she will resort to physical attacks/defense before resorting to magic, even though her physical prowess is all but nonexistent. She does possess some skill with her switch blade and bow-stick, but her strength is questionable at best.
